Xiaoyuan Wang is an assistant professor at School of Management and Economics, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).
Xiaoyuan studied Economics at Texas A&M University from 2009-2014, under the supervision of Dr. Steve Wiggins, Dr. Alexander Brown, Dr. Steven Puller, Dr. Stephanie Houghton (of Economics Department), and Dr. Venkatesh Shankar (of Mays Business School). With their guidance and with other faculties’ help, Xiaoyuan finished his Ph.D. dissertation “Essays on Consumer Behavior and Demand Analysis”. This is the starting point of his research career.
Xiaoyuan’s dissertation consists of two research projects. The first one is on buyers’ brand switches, state dependence and variety seeking. The second project is on buyers’ and sellers’ competitive strategies in search markets. After Xiaoyuan joins UESTC, he works with theorist Debing Ni and starts a new project on social preference related information in contracts. He is also interested in some other topics and work with other great scholars but has not yet ready to show all of them with greater details.
